The courageous, heartbreaking story of Jaycee Dugard and the tragic murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzy have brought the terrifying reality of kidnapping to the forefront for millions of parents and other caring adults.
We will never know whether or not what we teach in Kidpower might have prevented these two horrifying abductions, but we do know that our program has helped millions of children to be safer.

When Philip Garrido abducted Jaycee Dugard, beginning her 18-year ordeal of imprisonment and rape, Garrido had already served time for a previous rape and kidnapping and upon his release from federal prison he was a registered sex offender.
A newly released report by federal judicial authorities finds that even though Garrido was correctly classified as a “high risk” offender, he was inadequately supervised by the probation system.
