Hurricane Irene is about to barrel up the East Coast, taking aim at major cities like a bowling ball coming down the lane at a rack of pins. FEMA‘s Craig Fumate said about the developing situation:
We want to make sure people are supporting evacuation orders. This is a serious storm. I think awareness of it is good, but, the challenge is action.
This really caught my attention because it speaks to our essential three-word safety message:
“Perceive. Believe. Act.”

When my kids were young, we worried about being “paranoid, neurotic, overprotective” parents. The popular term now is “helicopter parents” who hover over every aspect of their children’s lives.
