Shocking story: a church in Pennsylvania created a “learning exercise” in which youth were led to believe they were being kidnapped at gunpoint. They were abducted by armed men, had pillow cases put over their heads and were thrown into a van. They were driven to the pastor’s house where it appeared that the pastor was being beaten bloody by their captors.

Like so many, we are deeply sad that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a Florida high school student, was shot and killed by 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Sad for a young life cut short. Sad for his family and friends. We cannot help asking questions and seeking answers about what might have made a difference – and might help to prevent this from happening again.
